My Brother and Sister in Law's New Gig!

My sister in law, Maureen and my brother David, along with two other partners, opened an enoteca in Boston in the middle of November. To view Central Bottle's website, click here. The website is wonderful and gives a glimpse into the thoughts of these partners who work so well together.

This has been a dream of Maureen's to open a spot of this nature. It is a wine bar and wine store with many other surprises for the discriminating palate. The wines are from boutique and artisanal wineries throughout the world and they also feature local cheeses made on many farms in the northeast as well as a variety of cured meats and provisions. Olive oil can be had here by the tap. Many of the beers are handcrafted from small breweries throughout the region.

My brother, David, designed and built the interior of the space and in the picture, designed and built the moveable wine racks located along the front window.



We are so happy for them. If you get to Cambridge in Massachusetts, stop in and tell them you found them on my blog. If you are looking for the perfect wine to go with that special dinner, Maureen can help. She is extremely knowledgeable and has quite the bubbly personality.

My Husband's Christmas Present

I wanted to show you one of the presents I gave Ed this year for Christmas. I got the frame from Ikea, used the Night and Day Designer Series Paper, added a Flourishes Decor Element to the front of the glass and adhered a flower from the Pretties Kit with a clear rhinestone brad. I printed the picture in black and white and layered it onto Basic Black cardstock.

I couple of weeks ago, Leslie hosted a Stampin' Up! Decor Elements workshop in her home where my presentation included putting up the Snow Flurries on a mirror in her kitchen for her. Ialso had brought this finished frame for folks to see that you don't need to just put them on your walls. I met some terrific ladies that night and I hoped they enjoyed themselves.

Handstamped Gift Bag and Tag

For those of you that don't know, I make artisanal soap using olive oil, essential oils and a host of other natural ingredients. Our honeybees supply the beeswax and honey in the soaps. Each year, our children ask for us to resupply them with a variety of soap at Christmas.

So just around Halloween, I begin the process, since the soap needs to cure for at least a month before using. I usually make about 40 lbs at this time. When I was making soap full time, I usually made 40-50 lbs a week of soap.

Anyway, I wanted to show some bags of soap that I packaged for each of the kids. I used Serene Snowflakes and the Two Tags Die. In addition, I stamped the tissue with the snowflakes using Brocade Blue and Night of Navy.

Trying To Enjoy The Holidays.

Just wanted to let you all know that I haven't completely fell off the face of the earth lately. As with every single one of you, I have been very busy lately with personal commitments including workshops, family gatherings, helping with family, shopping, (well, you get the idea) etc.... So over the next week, as we head into Christmas and the rush to prepare for it, I will post, but, it will be rather sporadic.

I will still be showing projects, though probably not as frequently, so I apologize to all my loyal readers and hope you will stay with me through this busy holiday.

Sad News

I wanted to share some sad news that our much loved Twinkie died Wednesday night quite suddenly and unexpectedly. He did not suffer in any way at all. I was stamping some projects in my studio that night and heard a noise behind me. When I turned around, he had fallen over and tried to get up. I rushed over and he fell again. I put him in my arms and called for the other family members to come because something was happening to him. Within 30 seconds, he took two (what sounded) like coughing breathes, and went limp. We jumped into the car and brought him to our local emergency animal hospital. He did not make it.

For those stampers who would come over for classes, he was a fixture in my stamp studio, occasionally taking up a seat while the ladies stamped.

This is particularly devastating to us as we have never experienced a loss of a family pet before. Sometimes animals show up in our lives and give us love in ways that are quite unique from anything else ever experienced. We are thankful for the 10 years that we had with him and hope that he was as happy with us as we were with him. Rest in peace, Twinkie.

Razzle Dazzle With LOTS of Color

I had to make a sympathy card for someone at work this week and I thought that using Stampin' Up's! Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper would be perfect. I love the color saturation in this paper, especially the Elegant Eggplant. I used the Razzle Dazzle stamp set and colored the image with markers. With Sympathy is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Basic Black

Circles, Circles and More Circles

Wow! Old Olive is a little bright here. I should have fixed it when I was in Photoshop, but you get the idea. Circles punches out then our new Ornament punch with Delightful Decorations and some Merry Moments Designer Series Paper. The sentiment is from Four the Holidays.

Just a simple monogrammed card using Night and Day Designers Series Paper. I used the Lovely Letters alphabet in Pumpkin Pie.

What To Do With Those Window Sheets?

Those window sheets are not just for making cards. You can put them through the Big Shot and make cute little gifts for folks on your holiday list. These window sheets are from the Night and Day Designer Series Paper. I wrapped Hershey Nuggets with some of the paper from the set and cut some cute tags with the Ornament Punch.

I LOVE Dasher!

I think the single stamps that Stampin' Up! carries are wonderful to create very simple yet elegant cards when paired with our Designer Series Paper.

I embossed Dasher onto Real Red cardstock and layered that onto Very Vanilla cardstock. I also embossed some smaller images from Delightful Decorations in the corner with white embossing powder. Designer Series Paper strips were added from Merry Moments.

Upsy Daisy

While I like Fall, I absolutely LOVE Spring. I made this card a while ago and wanted to show Melon Mambo with Pumpkin Pie.
I embossed the Upsy Daisy right onto the base cardstock and added some Razzleberry Lemonade DSP along with our Organza Ribbon.

Another Sparkly and Bright

I simply can't believe that it is the start of November already. I was in my studio this weekend and really wasn't focused enough to play and take pictures.

I received my Stampin' Success and liked the layout of a card on it. I changed it up a little bit and used the Sparkly & Bright stamp set.

Another 6 x 6 Scrapbook Layout and Matching Card

Here is another scrapbook page and matching card that I did for my son. Again, as in the other layouts here and here, I used the colors of the backgrounds in the pictures to drive the colors of the layouts.

My son, who is 20, was 5 when this picture was taken at a local park called Webb Mountain.

The stamp set used is Trendy Trees and the color of the cardstock is Kraft and Dusty Durango

Happy Birthday to my Daughter

Today is my daughter, Jacky's 23rd birthday. This card is CASED from a swap I received a few months ago.

November Technique Geeks Class

Come learn three new techniques and make three ring cards and two greeting cards. See past technique samples on the sample table. Cost is $15 or a $40 order placed the day of class.

This class is held open-house style so join me this Tuesday, November 3rd anytime between 4:30 pm - 8:30 pm to learn new techniques. This class is held monthly in my Stampin' Studio, typically the first Tuesday of each month. Each session takes approximately 1 - 1 1/2 hours to complete.

Another Scrapbook Page And Matching Card

A couple of posts ago, located here, I posted a scrapbook page and card made from the same elements, that I was using for an upcoming workshop. After looking through some old pictures, I ended up making more of these scrapbook pages and cards and I decided to add some photos when the kids were younger. This is Jacky at three years old, more than 20 years ago. I believe she is saying, "Keep away! This is mine!" This set is Baroque Motifs and Batty For You.

Scrapbook or Card??

For an upcoming workshop that has both scrapbookers and cardmakers, I thought I would show this wonderful idea from Convention last year. The attendees can either make a 6 x 6 scrapbook layout or a 3 x 6 card using the same elements in both.

This layout uses Bermuda Bay, Black and Whisper White along with Circle Circus. Just the sentiments are different. The black is heat embossed and the 1 3/4" circle punch is used for the circles. I added my daughters picture from when she was three. I can't believe she will be 27 next month.

Holiday Wandering Words

If you know me, then you know that I like quick and easy cards to make.

I am very geometric with my cards, so tearing the Designer Series Paper was a bit of a challenge to me. However, I think it lent a little texture to the background.

The only stamping is the Happy Christmas in Basic Black.

My First My Digital Studio Project

This morning, I had some time to play around with Stampin' Up's new program called My Digital Studio.

I am having the BEST time creating all sorts of cards and the best part is that is, I am not wasting time cutting cardstock. I can see how something looks before I start. This card is from one of the many preinstalled templates. All I did was change the sentiment to Happy Birthday.

Wandering Words with Autumn Flair

I liked this NEW set from the Holiday Mini made with our Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper. This card was especially easy peasy to make.

I used the markers on the word image and layered the designer series paper onto the base cardstock.

The leaf was made with the Leaves #2 die cut from Sizzix that Stampin' Up! sells.

New Blog Banner!

I was able to play with my NEW My Digital Studio from Stampin' Up! this weekend. How do you like my NEW blog banner. I created it using this great new software. Leave me a comment to let me know if you like it.

Halloween Birthday!

My daughter, the non-stamper, asked to make her boyfriend a card for his birthday. We kind of came up with this idea due to the Halloween theme of each of their birthdays. She has fallen in love with embossing and wanted to emboss everything on this card.

When it came time to use the Versamarker on the inside of the card, my Versamarker was dead. So she took the white gel pen and handwrote the inside. She then white embossed the skelton head from Batty For You.

I think she did a fabulous job. Don't you?

Sparkly and Bright! Workshop

I know, I am bad blogger lately! I have been busy with many workshops this week and haven't had time to come up for air.

Stampin' Up! wants us to get back into the workshop. I totally agree! I met so many nice women this week, that it re-energized me.

Here is a variation on what we did in my workshops this week.

Ornament Punch Flower

One day while surfing, I came across this marvelous idea on using Stampin' Up's! Ornament punch for making this wonderful flower. When I went back to look for it, I couldn't find the person who's blog I found it on.

If you are able to look closely, I sponged the edges of the petals in Soft Suede. I love this new color. The Designer Series Paper is from Autumn Traditions.

Delightful Decorations

This set is also in the Holiday Mini catalog. I ran Stampin' Up! gold cardstock through the Petals A Plenty embossing folder.

I gold embossed the ornaments from Delightful Decorations and punched them out using our new Ornament punch. The Merry Christmas is from Four the Holidays in our Holiday Mini. I gold embossed that as well.

I added some Whisper White Organza Ribbon.

Embossed Upsy Daisy

My sister-in-law's birthday is today and I made this card for her using Upsy Daisy and Stampin' Up's! new butterfly punch. The Designer Series Paper used is Razzleberry Lemonade and I just adore the colors, Melon Mambo, and Crushed Curry.

Nursery Necessities

I friend of ours had a baby girl recently and I sent her this card as a welcome!

I used Nursery Necessities and wheeled it with Nursery Letters. Believe it or not, I used Basic Gray as the card base and I just could not get the lighting right on it. It looks exactly like Bravo Burgundy.

Snowflakes, Again!

I embossed the smaller snowflake onto Soft Suede and then added Dazzling Diamonds. I used the paper piercer to pierce the corners and around the middle layer.

I stamped smaller snowflakes in Whisper White Craft Ink.
Merry Christmas from Teeny Tiny Wishes rounds out the bottom punched with the Modern Label punch.

The ribbon tied at the top is White Organza. All supplies are Stampin' Up!
